DigiCommerce’s Abandoned Cart feature helps you recover potentially lost sales by automatically sending reminder emails to customers who add products to their cart but leave without completing their purchase.
What Are Abandoned Carts?
Abandoned carts occur when customers add items to their shopping cart but exit your site without completing the checkout process. This common e-commerce phenomenon can significantly impact your revenue, with industry statistics showing that up to 70% of online shopping carts are abandoned.

- Cleanup CRON Schedule Interval: How often old abandoned cart data is purged (default: 7 days)
How It Works Behind the Scenes
- When a customer starts the checkout process, their cart information is temporarily saved
- If they leave without completing the purchase, the cart is marked as “abandoned”
- At scheduled intervals, the system processes abandoned carts and sends reminder emails
- If the customer returns and completes their purchase, the cart is marked as “recovered”
- Performance statistics track your recovery rate and sales impact
Best Practices for Abandoned Cart Recovery
- Send your first reminder within 24 hours when the purchase is still fresh in the customer’s mind
- Use a sequence of 2-3 emails spaced a few days apart
- Personalize your messages using the customer’s name
- Offer discount at the last email reminder
- Test different subject lines to see which ones perform best
- Keep your emails friendly and helpful rather than pushy or sales-focused
Monitoring Performance
DigiCommerce tracks important metrics to help you evaluate the effectiveness of your abandoned cart recovery strategy:
- Number of abandoned carts
- Number of recovered carts
- Recovery rate percentage
- Revenue recovered from previously abandoned carts
By regularly reviewing these statistics, you can refine your approach and maximize your recovery rate.
